There will be defections, Sonko says

Nairobi - A Jubilee Party leader says that there will be massive defections from all major political parties thanks to the new law that curbs party hopping after nominations.
Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko admits that the new law is good for the greater political landscape but will force many to run as independent candidates come the 2017 elections.
He says that there is simply not enough space for everyone in one party.
"The reality is that there will be defections. People will run as independent candidates even though they still support the various Coalitions," he said Saturday in Nairobi.
He did not say whether he would go down that path himself considering he has been mooted as thinking of quitting the party.
"I am in Jubilee. That is all,"he stated.
Sonko has serious competition on his hands of he is to be the Jubilee Party flag bearer for the 2017 Nairobi Governor's elections.
He has competition from Water CS Eugene Wamalwa, former MP Margaret Wanjiru, MP's Dennis Waweru and Johnson Sakaja.
