Nairobi - Despite protests over his election that have caused the closure of the University of Nairobi, Babu Owino remains student leader, for now.
University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof Peter Mbithi says an audit of the election that has caused so much uproar is already underway but that nothing changes for now.
" We cannot talk about changes until we know what happened. There is an audit then we will speak from that standpoint," he told News24 Wednesday.
There have been serious riots over Owino's contentious election that have caused serious damage to the University but Mbithi stated that there could not be any decisions made for now.
" We are in the investigation stage. Let us wait for that to be completed," he added.
The University is also trying to authenticate the video circulating on social media, showing GSU officers whipping students. The committee is set to provide its recommendations in 2 weeks time.
Students who destroyed property, he said will be identified and firm disciplinary actions taken against them, he added.
