Eldoret - Moi University main campus now has a new Vice Chancellor despite protests by area politicians.
This comes after the former Vice Chancellor Richard Mibey handed over office and the instrument of power to the newly appointed VC, professor Laban Ayiero who will serve in acting capacity for three months.
While handing over the office, professor Mibey urged students, staff and the community to accord their support to Ayiero saying he is qualified to take the position.
"By the time I took over as the VC, the PSP students were 5,454 but now they have grown to 25,000. I urge the community not to allow themselves to be used by politicians for their own personal gain," he said.

He however condemned the politicians for politicizing the matter, saying it's the mandate of the ministry of education.
Speaking after accepting to take the office of the VC, Professor Ayiero thanked the government for his appointed and promised to work hard to improve it.
"I also thank the former president Daniel Arap Moi for establishing such an institution that has contributed a lot in development and education," he said.
"I will work without fear and will dispatch my duties to the best of my knowledge," he added.
The Senate chairman Jenesio Kinyamaria who welcomed Professor Ayiero promised to support him in his endeavors.
"Graduation will take place as planned and no cause for alarm. Security is guaranteed," he said.
