Nairobi - It has emerged that CORD leader Raila Odinga and COTU Secretary Francis Atwoli met and engaged in talks over the 2017 elections.
The two met at a Nairobi hotel and spoke at length about the move to ensure that western Kenya does not vote for the Jubilee Coalition.
Raila is seeking the nod from Luhyas to vote for him come the polls but is facing increasing competition from the Jubilee Coalition.
The former Prime Minister agrees that he is under pressure and has asked Stwoli to help.
" The two met and discusses plenty including the battle for votes in Luhya land and how Atwoli can help Raila in that regard," a source close to the CORD leader told News24.
Raila is serious about the western Kenya vote which he is certain will be the difference between him winning and losing the 2017 elections.
He will in the coming days once again traverse the region to seek backing from the electorate.
" Raila will visit nine constituencies of Khwisero, Butere, Shinyalu,
Ikolomani, Lurambi, Navakholo, Malava, Lugari and Likuyani,” CORD communications chief Dennis Onyango
said in a statement to newsrooms on Thursday.
Some of the venues Mr Odinga will make stops at during the tour are
Manyulia, Butere Town, Sabatia, Shinyalu, Khayega, Musoli, Shisohe,
Lubao, Malava, Pan Paper, Kongoni and Matunda.
