Kampala - Police in Kampala's suburb of Makindye are hunting for a man who seriously beat up his wife for taunting him over Arsenal's loss in weekend's premier league match.
Abbas Mukobere on Saturday beat up wife wife, Ketty Mbali immediately he returned home after the match between Arsenal and West Brom where Arsenal lost 2 -1.
According to one of the neighbors, Hannington Mukasa, it was around 9 pm when they heard Mbali wailing for help.
''We went to their house but discovered that it had been locked from within. Through the window we could see man thrashing the woman with a cane,'' said Mukasa.
After beating her, he escaped through the hind door. By the time neighbors managed to enter into the house, she had fainted.
They carried her to the hospital where she was admitted. She sustained a fractured arm and bruises on the face.
Asked why she was beaten she said, ''As usual, I started joking about my team Manchester United winning and his team Arsenal losing. It seems he was drunk and upset by his team's loss that he started beating me up.''
She said it has always been fun talking about their teams' performance, but this time it was different.
Police officer Yona Mugerwa said they are looking for the man so he can be charged with assault.
