Armed terrorist on the loose after escaping police drag-net in Mombasa

Mombasa - The anti- terror unit in Mombasa has hasten its security operation against a terror suspect who escaped police hunt in Thursdays’ police operation which left two Al-shabab suspects dead.
Kisauni Police Boss Walter Abondo said on Friday Morning that the suspect Ismail Shosi is very dangerous and armed with pistol and other dangerous weapons and he is ready to accomplish any bad terror attack within Mombasa.
Abondo said that Ismail Shosi was among two terror suspects Salim Hanjary Bedzimba and Kibwana Ahmed Abdallah alias Rajab who were gunned down at Junda area in Kisauni Sub-county on Thursday afternoon.
Abondo has further added that the three Al-shabab suspects are among a terror network which has been planning and executing terror attacks in Mombasa, Kwale, Malindi and Lamu Counties within the Coastal region.
“The operation against terrors and criminal gangs in Kisauni is actually on, we will deal with them mercilessly” added Abondo.
He said that Police have been in pursuit of the three terror suspects since January this year after Police raided a house at Majengo area where Shosi who was the target but he escaped the raid, and since then police have been in pursuit of him.
The terror gangs have made Kisauni and other parts of Mombasa unsecured places for people to leave and we will ensure that such gangs are tamed” he added.
However, the family of one of the Al-shabab suspect killed in Thursdays raid who is brother to Kisauni member of parliament Rashid Juma Bedzimba condemned the police for killing their innocent brother.
“Since the police were in a position to arrest them and take them to the court was it necessary for them to kill my brother Salim Hanjary Bedzimba?” posed Omar Bedzimba brother to the deceased.
They urged the police to carry out their security operations with caution ad not to kill innocent souls.
But while responding to the family statement, Abondo said that the three are very dangerous and were armed.
He said that police recovered three grenades of Russian and Chinese origin, four detonators, 17 rounds of ammunition among other assorted weapons used to make home grenades and bombs.
“In fact we are now combing both private and public hospitals where we believe Shosi is receiving urgent treatment since he escaped with gunshot wounds in Thursday police raid” added Abondo.
The operation comes immediately after the Coast regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa ordered Mombasa County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed to work with police in Kisauni to ensure that all terror and criminal gangs in the area are disintegrated.
