AP officer detained in Mombasa over abduction plot

Mombasa - Detectives in Mombasa were for the second day on Friday interrogating three suspects among them an administration police officer for an abduction incident at Majengo area in the County.
According to the Coast regional Police Commandant Francis Wanjohi, the three; Corporal Timothy Ombinya who was attached at the Mvita AP base, Rosemary Ngina and Khamis Juma were arrested at Likoni Wednesday night over a plan to abduct a businessman who hails from Majengo.
Wanjohi revealed that the three were arrested near Harambee club at Likoni having already kidnapped Rashid Abdallah from Majengo.
“The kidnappers according to the parents were making several calls demanding KES 70,000 which the parents did not have so they sought help from the Police,” Wanjohi added.

Corporal Ombinya was also netted with narcotics.
“This is very dangerous and we are still questing the three before we take them to court, since it might be a strong network of police working with criminals to ever challenge the efforts of security department at the Coast,” he revealed.
The three are being interrogated at the Coast regional Police headquarters in Mombasa by the criminal investigative unit officers.
