Nairobi - Popular blogger and political activist, Robert Alai has said that Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor, Eliud Mate should be arrested.
His calls came hot on the heels of a robbery incident where the Deputy Governor was robbed KES 3.5 million by his bodyguard.
Mate was carrying the money in a bag when his bodyguard, an AP officer grabbed it and fled.
According to Alai, Mate should explain to KRA and Kenyans why he was carrying such a large amount of money in cash.
“Why was the deputy governor of Tharaka Nithi having Ksh 3.5million in cash? Is KRA even concerned? Anti-money laundering unit? The deputy governor should be arrested and charged immediately,” he said.
Mate said he got the money after selling a piece of his property.
