Nairobi - Act or lose the Luhya vote, a Jubilee MP has told DP William Ruto.
According to Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, the action by two Governors and a number of MPs to storm the Moi University and ask that the current Vice Chancellor, a Luhya be dropped has damaged relations with Luhyas.
According to the MP's the DP must come in swiftly and dissuade the leaders from hounding out the don, to save Jubilee's face in western Kenya.
Governor Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu) and Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet) stormed the institution in Eldoret with MPs demanding the appointment of Isaac Kosgey instead of Laban Ayiro who has been appointed by Education CS Fred Matiang'i.
But according to Washiali, the move is suicidal.
" How are we supposed to sell the President and DP in western Kenya if deserving people are being thrown out of their jobs to make space for others? What message does it give to the Luhya community," he stated.
The DP has yet to comment on the matter as he is in the United States attending the UNGA Summit.
According to the MP, the stance the DP takes will e the main factor in determining Jubilee hopes in western Kenya come 2017.
" The DP needs to act and fast. He must show Luhyas that they are in the right place and not that they are outsiders," he added.
The Jubilee Coalition is making a spirited effort to take on the crucial western Kenya vote ahead of the 2017 elections.
