Ababu blasts MPs for taking catering trips abroad

Nairobi - Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has blasted MPs for taking catering trips abroad at the expense of taxpayers money.
The MP's part of the Catering and Health Club Committee travelled to the Netherlands, India and Ethiopia to learn how to improve the state of catering and extra curricular activities at the National Assembly after MPs complained that the services were of poor quality.
The move was criticized by Speaker Justin Muturi and Namwamba has also now come out to ridicule the situation.
" The whole benchmarking crap just epitomises the bankruptcy of leadership. Why not visit Utalii?", he posed Friday.
The revelation comes in the wake of increased public scrutiny over the rate at which government officers are spending public funds on wasteful trips.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked public officers to ensure that government trips are reduced to the bare minimum.
However, he has also been criticized for at the same time travelling insistently to trips which some observers feel he does not need to take.
