A woman charged for kidnapping a three months old girl

Kisii - A middle aged woman has pleaded not guilty for kidnapping a three month old girl from Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital  in Kisii lower court.

Judy kerubo was charged with the offence of  kidnapping a child  contrary to the penal code that on 26th 09/2016 she kidnapped a child and escaped with her within the hospital premises.

On a plea, the accused pleaded not guilty before the senior resident magistrate Stephen Onjoro.

She was released on a bond of Ksh.150, 000 with similar causality and also given a cash bail of ksh. 80,  000.

 Next mention will be on 19/10/2016 and given a hearing on 2nd/12/1016

The infant’s mother Calister Kwamboka had taken her daughter for medication at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital when kidnapped. Kwamboka, a mother of five find it a dilemma on the terms in which her disappearance of the three month old Banancensia Kemunto.

She left her daughter and cell phone in the custody of a young woman whom she had developed a rapport with at the hospital. According to Kwamboka, the woman had convinced her that she knew her paternal home and relatives.

After returning from a short call, she could not trace the woman plus her child.

Hospital authorities requested her to be patient as they were doing analysis of the CCTV footage

Evans Ratemo, the child’s father, reported the matter at Kisii Central Police Station.

Kisii central DCIO, Mwangi Kanywera confirmed the matter and launched investigation

The DCIO advised parents to avoid leaving their children with strangers whichever the situation they are in.

The accused was arrested one week later after the hospital CCTV footage showed every move she made before she left the hospital with the child.
