A church youth leader in Igembe South District of Meru County has urged youths in the region to shun bad politics and avoid politicians who want to use the church as their campaign platform.
Speaking at Kithare Methodist Church of Kenya in Kangeta Division over the weekend the youth leader Patrick Murithi said the church is a place to maintain peace and order for realization of positive national development.
Murithi said this was the highest moment that Christians needed to be prayerful and visionary as the country closed in to elections.
He urged the youth to be sober minded when vetting individuals for the various elective positions stressing the need to practise their civic right to vote.
He also encouraged them to be good role models to the society by seeking elective posts and shunning corruption in their demonstration of leadership.
The youth leader urged the church to be at the fore in stamping out Female Genital Mutilation, drug abuse among other vices through active participation in games like football and athletics.
He commended the Kithare MCK church for winning the Synod Music Festivals held recently saying that was the best way to grab the young people from engaging in vice.
