Youths threaten to forcefully circumcise Museveni's rival

07 July 2015, 12:33 Godfrey Olukya

Kampala - Youths from Mbale district in eastern Uganda have threatened to forcefully circumcise the former Prime Minister and ruling party Secretary General, Patrick Amama Mbabazi if he goes there tomorrow as he plans to do.

Mbabazi, who belongs to the ruling NRM party, is scheduled to travel to Mbale to consult with members of the party about his candidature.

He recently declared that he will stand against President Museveni in 2016.

However, the new ruling party Secretary General, Lumumba Kasule has written to police complaining about Mbabazi.

She said the party has not yet endorsed anyone to stand as party bearer and so Mbabazi cannot go to meet party members.

Police Chief, Kale has also warned Mbabazi agaist holding rallies without first getting clearance from police as is required by law.

But Mbabazi has told the press that he must go to Mbale and meet party members.

As a result, the NRM youths in Mbale have promised to welcome him by forcefully circumcising him.

''Tujja kumusala embalu bwanajja e Mbale. Tetumwagala," said one of the youth leaders in Mbale, Solomon Masaba, meaning that they will circumcise Mbabazi if he goes to Mbale because they view him as a traitor.

The people in Mbale belong to Bagisu tribe which reveres circumcision.
