Youth grow poor awaiting govt funds

Nakuru town East MP David Gikaria has challenged the town youth to engage themselves in other productive activities as they await for funds from government.
The lawmaker observed that many youths were still languishing in poverty while waiting for the youth funds yet there are a lot of job opportunities at the County level.
“The problem with many of our youths is that they are still waiting for the money from the government but what they need to do is engage in other productive activities,” he said.
Gikaria also urged the County government to give equal opportunity to youths who apply for jobs saying that this will be the only way to motivate the young generation to develop the County.
Speaking on Wednesday morning during a youths forum in Nakuru, Gikaria emphasized on the need for County governments to invest in the youths.
“The youths remain the only source of wealth and that’s why the grassroots government must put a special consideration to these young masters,” he said.
The politician also added that he will be working closely with the office of the governor to explore more ways of bringing more investors to the County.
He further urged the youths at the County to form self-help groups in order to benefit from the local tenders.
