Nairobi - Women in the country have been urged to venture into large scale businesses to benefit from the set aside 30% procurement tenders for women and youths.
Mary Waithanji,a managerial officer at the Kenya Association of Women Business Owners (KAWBO) said women's engagement in large scale business would contribute to remarkable economic growth.
"The government's provision of 30% procurement tenders for youths and women gives them an opportunity to expand their small scale businesses into bigger, more profitable ones," said Waithanji.
"Women should form and register vibrant businesses with the National or County Treasury to be be in a better position of receiving funding upon procedural laid down application,"she added.
Waithanji said women can venture into Partnership of Private Limited types of businesses with almost 70% shares in companies for fruitful growth.
She added over 450 women have so far benefited from KAWBO's initiative of promoting and encouraging women to participate in business activities especially by liaising with the Kenya Bankers Association for loans.
She was speaking to a local radio station's morning show on women's participation in business.
