Women arrested for serving unlicensed food

Nairobi - Seven female hotel operators have been slapped with a fine of KES 1,000 each in default serve a one-month jail term for operating food businesses without medical certificates.
Lydia Muchiri, Florence Kariuki, Irene Wanja, Susan Munene , Nancy Wadia, Rahab Wanjiku and Joyce Wangari were penalized by Nanyuki Principal Magistrate Florence Macharia.
They had been charged that on February 16, 2015 at Nanyuki Town they were found operating food premises without being properly examined for issuance of medical certificates.
According to the prosecution, the accused were arrested separately by public health officers from Nanyuki teaching and referral hospital.
The officers were conducting an impromptu inspection around Nanyuki town.
