Busia - A middle-aged man is nursing serious burns at Busia District Hospital after his wife tried to kill him by setting their house ablaze in Kotur village, Busia County.
According to sources the woman arrived home from a drinking spree in the neighborhood at 1 am where she found her husband asleep.
It is alleged that she sneaked away their 12-year-old son who was also asleep with the father and locked the house from outside before setting it on fire.
Confirming the incident, the assistant chief of the area, Joseph Ipeete said that the man called for help and was immediately rescued from the inferno by neighbors and rushed to Busia District Hospital.
" We also managed to rescue the woman from irate neighbors who wanted to lynch her over the evil act which annoyed them," he said.
He however cautioned families against acts of lawlessness urging them to address such issues amicably instead of taking the law in their own hands.
The woman is being held at Kotur police post awaiting to be moved to Adungosi police station in Teso South sub County of Busia County.
