Nyeri - A young woman accused of abandoning her one-month-old baby in Nyeri town has been released on a bond of KES 50 000 by court.
Priscilla Wambui Chege was issued the bond by Resident Magistrate John Aringo while the case was set to proceed on August 11, 2014.
The court ordered the county probation office to table a report on the accused person which will be considered before delivery of the judgment on the said date.
The court was told that Wambui left her baby in a carton wrapped with window curtains at G4S security company offices in Nyeri town on July 31, 2014.
Wambui admitted to the charges of child negligence, but told the court that poverty and life frustrations forced her to abandon the baby.
She further noted that the baby’s father, Aloysius Muchori who was working with the security company was not providing for them.
