Woman nabbed with fake KES 53,000 in Webuye

Bungoma - Police in Webuye on Tuesday morning nabbed a 25 year old woman who was found in possession of a sum of KES 53,000 in fake Kenyan currency at a guest house.
The officers who were acting on a tip-off from a member of the public also recovered 21 paper materials that is used to manufacture fake currency.
Bungoma East DCIO Douglas Chikanda who confirmed the incident said the suspect was arrested in her room at Minata hotel where she had booked herself in the previous night.
“We have the suspect in our custody and she will be arraigned in court once investigations are over,” Mr Chikanda told journalists.
He cautioned residents of the county in general to be more vigilant and report anyone found handing fake currency since there has been an increase in such cases in the region that are targeting shops and Mpesa operators.
Chikanda thanked members of the public for tipping the police about the incident which lead to the arrest of the woman and issued a stern warning to anyone who will be found handling such currency will be caught and face the full force of the law.
