Woman jailed for 2 years for stealing bottle opener

Nyahururu - A middle aged woman was Tuesday sentenced to serve a two years jail term by a Nyahururu law court after she was found guilty of theft charges.
Catherine Njeri was convicted by Resident Magistrate Victoria Ochanda after she pleaded guilty to the charges.
She was charged that on December 25, this year at Passenga shopping centre in Nyandarua County stole a soda bottle opener, 11 keys, a memory card and KES 10, 000 from her employer Edward Maina Muturi where she was working as a bar maid.
The court heard that she reported to work as usual but disappeared shortly and left customers inside the bar.

The bar owner who was at a nearby butchery was called by one of the customers and on arriving at the bar he discovered that 11 keys, an opener, a memory card and KES 10, 000 were missing.
He reported the matter to police who started searching for Njeri and found her at her parent’s home in Njabini.
