Woman in court for attempting suicide

Nyeri - A woman who allegedly attempted to commit suicide in Nyeri has been arraigned in court.
Anne Wanjiku Mwangi appeared before Chief Magistrate Wilbrodah Juma to answer to charges that on March 13, 2014 at Mathari village she attempted to set herself ablaze.
According to the prosecution, Wanjiku took a bottle containing petrol and a matchbox and threatened to burn self.
However, she denied the charges and the case was adjourned to April 10 with a mention on March 28, 2014.
Meanwhile in the same court, a guard at Beavers Hotel in Ruring’u Nyeri town denied charges of stealing from his employer.
Joseph Otieno was accused of breaking into the hotel where he stole two television sets, three bed covers, a teapot and a blanket all worth KES 401 021.
Otieno is said to have committed the offence jointly with others not before the court on March 22, 2014.
He was also accused of neglecting his duties and failing to prevent the crime, while working as a night guard of the establishment.
He was released on a bond of KES 30 000 with a surety of a similar amount.
The case was scheduled to be heard on April 9, 2014.
