A 44-year old woman who stabbed her husband to death at Kambakia location Imenti North District yesterday spent half of the day in Meru Court cells waiting to be arraigned in court.
The suspect Eunice Kaari, who is said to have stabbed her 30 years old lover in the neck before killing him instantly, will be arraigned in court on Monday next week.
The mother of four could not plead after the police through the state counsel 1, J.Motende made an application requesting the High Court to grant them more time to carry out thorough investigation over the alleged murder case.
The accused is reported to have killed her husband on Wednesday following a love affair row in a drinking den in the neighborhood.
According to the area OCPD James Kithuka, Ms Eunice fell furious after she got rumours that her husband spent the night with another woman.
The accused while in police custody, told the people daily that the deceased Titus Kimathi had been having secret love affair with a married woman only known to her as Mwontune who also lives in the same vicinity.
‘We have been married for 10 years we even have children but I don’t know why he wanted to dump me and go to another woman who is already married’, she said while in court cells.
She also disclosed that her late husband was drunk during the 11:00am incident where she too almost met her death as the irate villagers attempted to lynch her before the police rescued her.
‘I was searching for him at first I went to the woman’s’ house and she told me that my husband was not there then I decided to check him at a nearby drinking den. We started quarrelling and he stabbed me on my right hand. I also stabbed him on the neck”, said Kaari.
The OCPD however cautioned people against drinking illegal plastic bottle liquor saying the behaviour is highly promoting irresponsibility and deaths in the region.
He said the body is at Meru Level -5- general Hospital mortuary awaiting Postmortem.
