Woman fined KES 5K for slapping another

Nyeri - A woman who admitted to assaulting another following a quarrel has been fined KES 5 000 and in default serve a three-month jail term by a Nyeri court.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate John Aringo, Tabitha Waithiegeni admitted slapping Grace Njoki twice on the face at World West bar in Kiganjo location, on the fringes of Nyeri town on September 8.
The court heard that the accused went into the bar where the complainant was having beer with her friends and picked a quarrel with her that resulted to a bitter exchange of words.
It was then that the accused pounced on the complainant who was rescued by other clients and later proceeded to report the matter to the police prompting her arrest.
In mitigation, Waithiegeni appealed for forgiveness saying that she did not assault Njoki intentionally, but out of temper.
