A 72-year-old woman passed away while waiting to cast her vote at Kaganda Primary School in Murarandia location Kiharu constituency.
Tabitha Wanjiru Mwangi fainted at 1PM in the long queues few metres from the poll clerk.
There were just three people ahead of her in the queue.
She was rushed to Murang’a District hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In the same region at Murang’a County, IEBC clerks had to use the manual register instead of the electronic voter list.
The machines bearing voters’ details failed to function while others failed to respond to instructions occasionally thus irritating participants.
Some voters were also complaining of delays and wastage of time while confirming eligible voters using the electronic machine.
This forced the clerks to stop using the machines and switch to the manual register.
Electorates exercised patience waiting to participate in the exercise despite the scorching sun.
