Kampala - Police in Kampala Uganda are looking for a woman who allegedly burnt her husband to death after a domestic quarrel, accusing her of coming back late.
The incident took place at Busabala village 14 km east of Kampala city.
According to police, the woman Nuru Nansubuga locked her husband in the house while he was sleeping and then set the house on fire using petrol. When the man woke up and tried to flee, he had nowhere to pass since the door was locked from outside.
According to one of the neighbors, Salima Mbatudde, the couple quarreled at around 11.00 pm as the woman accused the husband ,Peter Musisi of being with another woman, thus the reason he came back home late.
" Musisi seemed to be drunk and was not denying the accusations which annoyed the woman the more and she destroyed windscreens of her husband's car. "
She added that as responsible neighbors they advised the couple to stop quarreling and instead go into their house and sleep so that they settle their differences the following day in presence of other people.
" We were shocked when at around 3.00 am we heard Musisi wailing for help in the burning house. By the time we broke the door to help him, he was already burnt to death," she said.
Area police commander, Siraje Bakaleke said that they suspect the the woman poured petrol on the sofa set and other property before setting the fire which made it spread very fast.
The woman is on the run.
