Conwoman forced to clean washrooms

28 January 2013, 16:22 Kelvin Mureithi

A middle aged woman on Monday received a thorough beating from two shopkeepers in Meru town after she pretended to have paid for  a milk pack and snacks that she had ordered and started demanding for her change.

Speaking to reporters in Meru town, the shopkeepers who demanded anonymity said it was the second time the woman had tried to con them.

They said that during the first incident, the woman ordered for a packet of milk and snacks and insisted that she had issued the shopkeeper with two hundred shillings note and needed her change.

The shopkeeper who attended to her during the first incident said the woman had forgotten that she had visited the same shop last year and was given change for items she had not paid for.

One of the witnesses said he had also spotted her arguing with a waiter at a hotel in town over a bill, when he discovered that she does not pay her bills.

The target shopkeepers decided to discipline her by flogging her before members of the public joined demanding that she be taken to the area police station.

She however pleaded for forgiveness and was set free only after washing the hotel urinals and warned never to repeat the ordeal again.
