Kirinyaga - Police in Kirinyaga East sub-County are holding a woman suspected to have stolen a one-week-old baby.
The woman was arrested at Kimbimbi Level Four hospital where she had taken the infant for treatment.
“Medics at the facility became suspicious of the woman after she failed to breastfeed the child in addition to her visibly advanced age, forcing them to alert police officers,” said the sub-County OCPD, Titus Yoma.
Yoma said upon arresting the woman, the officers filled a P3 form requesting for a medical examination to establish if indeed she had given birth recently.

“The results proved she had not given birth and the suspect was immediately locked up while the infant was admitted at the hospital pending the determination of the biological parents,’’ he said.
Yoma has since appealed to any mother who might have had her infant stolen to report to Wang’uru police station.
The suspect is still remanded at the police station as investigations continue, with the OCPD stating that she will be arraigned in court.
