A woman who allegedly stabbed her husband with a knife severally on the chest critically injuring her was on Monday arraigned in a Nyeri court.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Wekesa, Reachel Muthoni was charged that on July 17, 2013 at Majengo slums in Nyeri town she assaulted Joshua Mideva and caused actual bodily harm on him.
She however denied the charges and applied to be released on bond but the prosecution dismissed her application saying that the complainant, her husband, was admitted at the Provincial General Hospital in a critical condition.
The accused informed court that she had four children and a grand child who are all under her care adding that she needed medical attention for an injury she sustained on the material day.
Wife, hired goons descended on him with sticks and blows
Reportedly, the complainant (Mideva) has been suffering in the hands of the accused. In October 2, 2012 he was admitted at the same hospital following an attack allegedly by the accused in the company of some hired goons who descended on him with sticks and blows.
During that incident, further reports indicate that he suffered a fracture on the leg, sustained injuries on his ribs and abdomen and spent night in a trench where the assailants had dumped him after the ordeal.
The magistrate ruled that the accused be taken for treatment and later be remanded waiting for the complainant’s condition to improve. The case hearing was set for August 26 with a mention on August 2.
