Woman arraigned for attempting to murder father-in-law

Kilifi - A 35-year-old woman has been arraigned in a Kilifi court and charged with attempted murder of her father-in-law.
Rehema Kazungu Gona appeared before senior resident magistrate Leah Wasighe where he denied the charges.
The court heard that on March 6, 2015 at Makonjeni village, Ganze sub-County in Kilifi County, the accused gave money to some youth so they could help her to kill her father in-law, Chengo Gona.
However, her son Kahindi Chengo Gona overheard his mother’s murder plan and went to inform his grandfather who reported the matter to the police leading to her arrest.

The court released the accused on a KES 100 000 bond with an alternative cash bail of KES 50 000.
She could not raise any of the bails immediately and was remanded at Kilifi GK prison.
The case was set for mention on March 23, 2015 and hearing on May 7, 2015.
