Nairobi - Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba will face the Powers and Privileges Committee Wednesday as he defends himself over bribery and corruption allegations.
The MP, who doubles up as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee PAC in parliament will be first to meet the Committee Wednesday as a probe into corrupt dealings in the PAC begins.
There was controversy last week when it was revealed that he has a secret recording that he plans to use to defend himself with in the hearings in which a conversation in which he and former Prime Minister as well as other MPs were having.
Ababu said that he had no option to use the recording because he had been unfairly hounded and that he had not received any protection from his party the Orange Democratic Movement.
However, it is not yet clear if the MP will release the recording given that he held discussions with Raila over the weekend on the matter.
" I have no choice but to use it to defend myself. I have been hung out to dry and I will not take it lying down at all," he said of the recording.
There has been no official comment from Raila over the matter.
Ababu is accused of leading bribery within the PAC to help senior government officials avoid being mentioned in reports over misappropriation of funds in various ministries.
It is understood that some MPs received amounts ranging from KES 1.5 million to avoid mentioning certain officials in reports.
He also last week survived an impeachment vote, just surviving on a 14-13 score after technicalities.
