Why did Ababu ignore ODM meeting?

Nairobi - Orange Democratic Movement ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba missed a party strategy meeting over the weekend to uproar from fellow party members.
Ababu's absence was noted by several party members as well as ODM leader Raila Odinga who explained to members that he had called in to apologize for his no-show.
" He has apologized and wishes the best over the weekend," Odinga said.
Party members though, were not convinced by the snub of the meeting that took place at Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos, stating that the position Ababu commands at the party is too big for him to be absent.
" The Secretary cannot miss the retreat. It is not acceptable," an MP that wished not be named told News24.
Ababu was said to be elsewhere on an official capacity.
" It is not good enough. He is away for key party meetings. This is now sinister," another MP said.
The complaints come a few weeks after Ababu re-stated that he was not leaving ODM and that any person thinking so will be disappointed.
Ababu has severally been linked with joining forces with other Luhya leaders to form their own party, but has insisted that such stories are all false.
