Why Obama left Uhuru's gifts behind

Nairobi - US President Barack Obama left behind gifts handed to him by President Uhuru Kenyatta. But why?
The US president was handed two gifts by the President during his visit to State House Saturday. Two portrait paintings, one of himself and the other of him, his family and two dogs.
However, he was not able to carry the presents back to the US.
According to information from the US Embassy in Nairobi, the presents will need clearance from the White House before they are delivered to America because they have come from a head of state.
" There is protocol on gifts handed to the US President from other heads of State. They are cleared in a different manner and will take some more time to arrive in the US," a US embassy official that did not want to be named told New24.
The gifts will eventually arrive in America though, so there should be no worry.
The two paintings were done by Collins Okello, who also drew a similar one for President Kenyatta dressed in military uniform.
