When your date ignores you, what next?

25 September 2014, 13:04 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - When you have been asked out on a date and he does not show up, what to do? I would just breathe in and out, have a glass of wine and if he is not answering his phone or texts, leave. What would you do? Here are a few things to do.

Eat before you step out

You obviously were well dressed knowing you were to meet someone. Why rush back home and cry yourself dry??? They did not show up, you did, for me the loss is to them. Have a great meal then call your friend to meet you out for drinks. Better a hangover rather than feeling sorry for yourself. I never allow myself to feel sorry for me.

Do not make excuses for anyone

Making excuses for someone who was not lying in bed in hospital is downright stupid and nonsensical. If they were aware they had commitments that evening and something came up last minute, a courteous person picks up the phone and tells the other party. Exceptions to these rule are like I said earlier; you are in a hospital or you got hijacked, left stranded and your phone was stolen. The rest can call even in an emergency, a call will not take more than five minutes.

No need to lie

Someone stood you up, they did and you cannot change it. There is no need to make up lies just to save face with your girlfriends.  And do not be bitter. Like I said go have drinks then go home. Going home and throwing a pity party for yourself never helped anyone.

Saving Face

Hold your face up high when you meet them next time, say hi and move on. No need for someone to think they are a ruby in a chest of treasures. There are many to pick from just unlucky they were the first.

Do not even think of a make-up date

Make-up dates are for people who genuinely showed remorse or even called back to say why they did not show up. A person who sees you are not destroyed by their discourtesy will want to nitpick you until they find what ticks you off. In other words you are an experiment for them to test your limits. You are the only one who can give them power to do this , so if you are thinking of a second date then its at your cost.
