Nairobi - Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula is embarrassed the wheelbarrow saga effected by the County government that has seen the equipment sourced at KES 109,000 a piece.
The County government led by Governor Kenneth Lusaka has defended the move to buy the wheelbarrows at the hugely inflated price, saying that they are up to international standards.
Kenyans have reacted with dismay over the reports and Wetang'ula has come out to add to the voice of disregard.
" This is an issue that is embarrassing to Bungoma residents ad must be probed," he told News24.
" The County government has to explain the rationale behind such a massive outlay on the wheelbarrows," he added.
Lusaka says that the price was agreed on after a thorough consultative and bidding process.
" This is above board and I urge anyone with reservations so to check," he has insisted.
The matter is bound to come up a the upcoming Governors retreat in Mombasa where issues regarding the progress of County Governments will be discussed.
