What to do when he or she cheats?

10 November 2014, 20:55 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - There are many reasons as to why people cheat; loss of affection, loss of attraction between the two of you, boredom, temptation, but love never comes into play.

There is a reason to be worried if you know your partner cheated in your relationship or you poached your current boyfriend of girlfriend from someone else. A new study has revealed that once a person is a cheat, they will always be cheats and they will cheat on you too.

The study done by Normal Bar found that people who entered into one relationship by cheating on their previous partner tended to be less committed, less satisfied, and less invested in their new relationships because paid more attention to romantic alternatives, as this might be part of the reason they cheated in the first place. It lacked in their relationship but as soon as they got this they still keep looking outside the ‘new’ relationship because it is how they think.

For them things are always better up until they get it then they look again for something better leading to  higher rates of infidelity. The Normal Bar, 33% of men and 19% of women admitted to being unfaithful.

The study also points out that for most people there is a big difference for them when they cheat by having a single one night stand in the course of a long-term marriage as compared to having regular affairs.

Kenyan marriages may not be founded in the same numbers but even more. In most cases a partner never even finds out about it because the way most things are done are so different as compared to the former days. There were rare cases of business trips done out of town especially where women are concerned. This is because the job market was mostly dominated by men and the women were not yet accepted in the higher ranks especially politics.

Also formerly, women were more about the family and the man was perceived as the head of the household and he could put his foot down and forbid the wife from leave alone business trip, even staying at work past five o’clock keeping late hours was unacceptable. The marriage institution has gone through an obvious shift where things are done differently and relationships are more open as compared to when people used to date immediately after high school and marry immediately afterwards to  raise a family.

Now most people’s first thought is usually making money and while they are at it they play first and loose indiscriminately. And not with unknown individuals but more likely with those in their circles such as colleagues, friends and close acquaintances.

It all boils down to fickleness, but to each his own because some do get lucky and they actually end up working as compared to the former relationships.

But as they say, once a cheat, always one.
