Westlands MP bails out struggling AFC Leopards

Nairobi - Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi has bailed out AFC Leopards after their players threatened not to attend a Kenyan Premier League match over unpaid allowances.
The MP donated KES 200,000 to the Leopards cause Friday and allowed the side to travel to Western Kenya to attend an upcoming Kenyan Premier League clash versus Western Stima on Saturday.
The players were given KES 10,000 each to take them on their way.
Leopards are in a serious financial mire, with the players owed millions of shillings in salaries allowances and bonuses by the club.
The troubles have been caused in part by the falling apart of a sponsorship deal with sugar firm Mumias Sugar, which is also in financial trouble.
Leopards are currently placed second in the Kenyan Premier League.
