Western MPs to convince Raila to support Mudavadi

12 May 2015, 21:33

Nairobi - Members of parliament from the former western province have said that they will soon launch a campaign to ask the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to support Musalia Mudavadi’s presidential candidature in 2017.

Emuhaya Member of Parliament Wilber Otichilo said that the MPs have agreed to marshal all resources they can to push their people to register as voters’ en-masse in preparation for 2017.

Speaking in Naivasha town Tuesday when he met members of the Luhyia community living and working in Naivasha, Otichillo said that they will try all they can to convince Mr Odinga to throw his support behind Mudavadi who he said has real chances of  outdoing the jubilee leadership in 2017.

“We are weighing all options available and one of it is to convince the former Prime Minister to support Mudavadi in 2017 because we feel that Mudavadi is the best person who has the energy to fight it out with UhuRUto in 2017,”he said.

“We want to register over six million voters in Luhyia land before we can start talking to other people to support us because we feel we have waited for long enough to take the leadership of this country and it is our time to get to the top hill,” he added.

Otichillo said that all MPs from Luhyia land have agreed to facilitate the registration of voters in their respective constituencies including ensuring that those leaving high school are issued with national identity cards.
