We know who is behind CS Kamau's suspension, MPs claim

11 June 2015, 12:33 Joseph Njung'eh

Nyeri - Starehe MP, Maina Kamanda has sensationally claimed that suspended Cabinet Secretary in charge of Infrastructure and Roads, Michael Kamau is being targeted over Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) tender.

Kamanda said Kamau is being hunted by powerful individuals who are opposing Jubilee government's development projects.

Kamau was suspended and charged in court on allegations of abuse of office.

Speaking during the funeral service of Kamau’s mother, Immaculate Maria Wanjiku at Mwichuiri village in Kieni Nyeri County, Kamanda said there is a plot to remove Kamau out of office.

He further claimed that members of his Roads and Transport Parliamentary Committee were also threatened over the SGR tender which was later issued to a Chinese construction company.

“I am sure Kamau will conquer all these trials because they have been cooked by people who did not get the opportunity to make millions of money through unorthodox methods," he said.

The funeral service was also attended by State House Chief of Staff, Joseph Kinyua who also read President Uhuru’s condolence message, Cabinet Secretaries Jacob Kaimenyi, Davis Chirchir and Felix Koskei among others.

MPs Naomi Shabaan (Taita), Stephen Ngari (Ndia), Dennis Waweru (Dagorreti South), Peter Weru (Mathira) and Joseph Kiuna (Molo) were also present.
