Ways to deal with Valentines Day hangover

16 February 2015, 19:00 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi -  Some men have disappeared, others since Sunday are nowhere to be found. Where did they go to? This past Saturday was a day of festivities for some people, for others it was just a regular day while for others they were in a new relationship.

Some of those relationships are for real because one partner was trying to impress someone for a long time and this past Saturday they were finally able to and they now have the apple of their eye. Then again, there are others who were just in it for the day, to get a little hanky panky that was easy and they are now too busy to say good morning to their new girlfriend.

Everyone knows that Valentine’s Day is a day of love but it is also a day of desperation for some women who are single and would not like to be left out. So some clever men, had the right target, took her out on a date, wined and dined her for the night (or day) and as soon as it hit Sunday they had that work assignment that is to be presented on Monday.

Some women are in denial this Monday, coming after the whirlwind weekend because the man they thought they now had something with, is unavailable. The sooner some of them are told that it was just a weekend fling the better. The men who were spurned continuously got dates, the men who were not good looking enough with good credit also got dates and those who were too short also got dates; because some woman somewhere wanted to not be left out of the festivities.

Then there are the men who just wanted a one-day stand, and knew the right strings to pull; the recent divorcee, single girl, the new colleague, the friend who was recently dumped. So he took her out gave her a good time, and the rest is history.

If you are such a woman stop checking your phone for any texts he may have sent that you might not have heard coming in. The Safaricom network is working, if he wanted to chat, he should call, if he has not then stop giving yourself a hard time. That is how you know if it really meant something or nothing, the one who wants a second date will call, maybe not today or tomorrow but he will call. The one who wants nothing will dump you in the voice mail or will screen your calls. Not to worry, just do what you have been doing before the past weekend. Stop eyeballing the colleague that spotted you in your weak moment, it is not his fault but yours. If anything, the clever women are the ones who got a free meal and went to the houses alone and cupped it off with a glass of wine. They are the winners in my estimation because they used and did not allow some man to use them. They will most probably be the ones getting a call for the second date.
