Nairobi - The Communications Authority of Kenya CAK has re-appointed Francis Wangusi as its Director General on a four year contract.

Wangusi, whose previous tenure had ended in May, was appointed by the CAK board Tuesday on another term, having worked to the Authority's satisfaction during his first stint.

Wangusi became famous for his role in the Digital Migration saga, where he was involved in a straight out fight with media houses over the mode of carrying out the migration.

Wangusi's new term begins 22 August, 2015.

According to the CAK, Wangusi floored 29 other applicants to emerge the best in interviews conducted by the board.

Wangusi has over 27 years experience in the ICT industry and had previously served as director in the departments of Broadcasting and Licencing,Compliance and Standards.

" He was previously a Senior Lecturer of Telecommunication Engineering at MultiMedia College of Kenya (MMU) and has overseen transformation of the ICT regulator into an independent Authority, making ICTs as central in Kenya's economic growth," the CA said in a statement.

Wangusi holds a Masters Degree in Space Sciences (Satellite Communications);BSC degree (Telecom Engineering) as well as a Chartred Engineer- UK certificate and a Global Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration (GEMBA).

In 2013, Wangusi was awarded the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
