Nairobi - The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision IEBC has declared Ferdinand Waititu fit to run for the upcoming Kabete by election.
The IEBC announced Tuesday that Waititu, who has been taken to court on a number of occasions by Kabete voters seeking to have his candidacy rejected is fit to face the ballot.
Waititu has been nominated by the ruling Jubilee Alliance Party.
" The IEBC has dismissed a petition seeking to bar Ferdinand Waititu from contesting in the Kabete Constituency by-election," it said in a statement.
The Kabete poll will be held May 4, 2015.
Kabete has 62,454 registered voters and will be seeking to replace the late George Muchai who was brutally murdered in Nairobi early this year.
The cases in court which seek to have Waititu declared unfit to run for public office stem from past incidences whilst Embakasi MP, where he threatened to kick members of the Maasai community out of the area.
