A customer in a hotel in Mwingi on Monday lost his life after he was attacked by a waiter as a result of a quarrel that ensued between them.
Musyoka who is attached to the hotel as a waiter was seen engrossed in a low tone conversation with the customer before he drew out a knife and stabbed the customer severally in the chest killing him.
This comes three days after a similar incident occurred in the neighboring Mbeere district where a waiter - Boniface Ndwiga - quarreled with a customer for unknown reasons and stabbed him with a kitchen knife killing him instantly.
Mwingi town acting Police Boss Simon Birir reported that the stabbed customer made his orders as usual only for the waiter to emerge from the kitchen, hold a short conversation that led to the murder.
Birir said that the waiter drew a knife from the apron and stabbed the deceased severally before he was restrained and handed over to the police by town residents.
The culprit is being held at Mwingi Police Station before being arraigned in court as the preliminary investigations are underway to unveil the motive behind the spontaneous attack.
The Police Boss thanked the residents urging them to refrain from taking law into their hands whenever such incidents take place in absence of a security personnel, citing that it was against the law.
