Varsity students protest over CDF

A group of Rendille University Students Asssociation (RUSA) from Laisamis constituency demonstrated over the mismanagement of CDF funds in favour of political allies and relatives.
Addressing the press during the protest at the Ministry of Finance entrance, Lasarua Adisomo, the RUSA Chairman said that for over 10 years, the Laisamis CDF office has been lagging behind in development due to incompetent CDF management committee.
"We want the government's intervention through the Ministry of Devolution and Planning to ensure that there is proper management of CDF funds and a trustworthy, competent Committee put in place to curb the issue of favoritism," said Adisomo.
Adisomo said that needy students in the constituency have been missing the CDF funds despite applying since the Committee allocates in favour of their relatives, political allies and friends.
The RUSA head demanded that the area MP Hon. Joseph Lekuton re-elect a new Committee fairly and transparently from the Ward level, based on the provisions of the CDF Act, allow a thorough auditing of the CDF books of accounts as well as ensure equitable allocation of funds to students and projects.
