Uproar as Senator Wetang'ula insults twitter follower
06 July 2015, 11:46
Nairobi - A tweet posted by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula on Sunday evening that went viral has sent tongues wagging on social media and elicited mixed reaction.
The Cord co-Principal, while responding to a follower who asked him where the proceeds of the sale of the Tokyo Embassy is, used a maternal slur that has been attributed to National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale.
Wetang’ula tweeted: “What if the MP for Langata led residents to demolish Weston Hotel to restore public land unfairly grabbed??”
A follower using the twitter handle @KellyGitahi replied by asking the Ford Kenya party leader a question which must have infuriated the senator.
“@wetangulam where is the money of the sold Tokyo embassy?” read @KellyGitahi's tweet, referring to a scandal involving the Senator when he was a foreign affairs minister in 2010.

“@kellyGitahi in your your mothers account,” responded the Senator through his twitter handle, @wetangulam.
Several people joined in the conversation, with some criticizing Wetang’ula for being intolerant and using harsh words.
“@Wetangulam @kellyGitahi and I heard this guy talk of vying for the Presidency?? Well sorry Gitahi,” commented @alliceManisha
“@Wetangulam @kellyGitahi totally bad answer. Should not come from someone of his stature,” said another twitter user, @Washe26.
Steven Ken, posting via @stevenkennethjen, was more blunt: “@Wetangulam @kellyGitahi I never thought a well-respected Senator can go this low. Totally shame.”
