Nairobi - A section of University of Nairobi (UoN) students have allegedly threatened to commit suicide if US President Barack Obama does not visit the institution next week, according to a letter doing rounds on social media.
The letter that was allegedly written and signed by controversial SONU chairman, Babu Owino, claims that the students of the famed university are sad and stressed because the US President will not pay them a visit at their main campus.
“It saddens our hearts that President Barack Obama is not scheduled to visit the great UoN or any other Kenyan university. Our students are sad and stressed,” reads part of the letter.

“So far, at least 18 UoN students have threatened to commit suicide if President Obama doesn’t visit UoN. Also, 31 female students have threatened to urinate on the tree President Obama planted in 2006 should he not visit the UoN. Male students may do worse. This will be catastrophic, calamitious and cataclysmic. God forbid,” adds the letter.
This is not the first time Babu Owino is hitting news headlines and making tongues wagging online. In June, he caused a stir when he wrote a letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta requesting permission to burn clinics conducting abortions.
