Nairobi - University of Nairobi students will protest harassment of their colleagues at a popular Nairobi night club Tuesday.
The students through their union SONU, has written a letter to the Inspector General of Police saying that they have been harassed severally at the 1824 club along Lang'ata Road in Nairobi.
SONU chairman Babu Owino says that they will host a peaceful demonstration outside the club early Tuesday.
" I hereby write to you on behalf of Students of University of Nairobi who have learnt bitterly of the continued harassment of their colleagues at the aforementioned club.
" More than a dozen students have been beaten by bouncers and staff at the club over issues that can be solved peacefully and as we speak there is one who is in critical condition at St Mary's Hospital Lang'ata," he complained.
" We cannot let this madness continue and as a result, we wish to inform you of our plans to protest from UON through Uhuru Highway to Lang'ata road. We seek your help and guidance in this matter," he added.
1824 has been in the news in the past after being accused by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero of operating outside normal operating hours.
