Ulinzi Stars striker, Amwoka’s dad passes on

21 February 2014, 14:12 Nechesa Chemoi

Nakuru - Ulinzi Stars striker, Evans Amwoka will not feature in his team’s premier league match against AFC Leopards following the death of his father.

“Striker Evans Amwoka is mourning after losing his father on Thursday evening. The former Captain is set to be given compassionate leave to attend to the burial set for March 2 at their ancestral home in Kakamega,” part of the statement posted on the team’s website read.

Amwoka said his father had been fighting with a long illness before his sudden death.

“It is a big loss to us and the family but we have to accept God’s will,” Amwoka said.

Team Officer in Charge Cpt Joe Birgen led the team in sending condolence message to Amwoka, his friends and family members for the loss.

“We would like to pass our message of condolence to Amwoka and his family and as his Ulinzi Stars family, we will be with him during this trying time. We have given compassionate leave to attend to the burial matters and we will walk with him throughout the process,” Birgen said.

Ulinzi will play Leopards at Nyayo National stadium at the weekend after they were held to a 1-1 draw in their 2014 season opening match against Chemelil Sugar at home.

Leopards were also held to a 1-1 draw in their opening match against KCB on Wednesday at the same venue.
