Uhuru's Migori troubles 'down to Obado'
09 September 2014, 12:38
Nairobi - Migori Governor Okoth Obado was the cause of the heckling that took place during president Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to the area.
Uhuru was heckled Monday during an anti Malaria rally campaign in Migori, where Obado's presence was blamed for the melee that took place.
Obado is seen as an anti-Orange Democratic Movement ODM influence, in a region where non support for party leader Raila Odinga is not taken well.
Youth in the area had warned Obado and his team that they would not tolerate his presence during the rally but their threat was taken in isolation.
And when the president arrived, it blew up in embarrassing fashion.
" The president is not hated here, we have no issue with him. The problem is Obado, Juma Oloo, a Boda Boda operator in Migori said.
" He has been disrespectful to the party and to the wishes of the people on the ground. We do not want him and we also warned him this would happen ", he added.

Obado did not speak during the ceremony, but other leaders who attended the rally tried hard to ask the youth to calm down, but their efforts did not bear fruit.
The president in laid back fashion, tried to address the gathering but to no avail and he just had to leave.
" Obado was warned. We told him we do not want him here, we told him, Ongoro Issa, a polytechnic student in Migori said.
" He is a Jubilee person. If he wants to join them we ask him to declare his stand and then we go back to elections, he shouted.
And thus when the shoes were thrown at the presidential dias, the inevitable had happened.
