Uhuru warns cabinet secretaries over poor service delivery

04 March 2014, 17:58 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged cooperation between the various arms of government to ease service delivery to Kenyans and execution of promises made by the Jubilee government.

The president further urged quick dispute resolution between the different sections of government to ensure that there is no lull in government duty.

Speaking in Nanyuki during the opening of a three-day retreat for Cabinet and Principal Secretaries, the president insisted that the focus of individuals in government should be service delivery and not in-fighting.

" We, whatever our position in national or county governments, serve one people and one nation. We have placed ourselves under a duty to achieve a common, shared vision for Kenya. We cannot – we dare not –allow differences of station or function impede or delay our achievement,” he said.

The president also urged the cabinet secretaries to work closely with parliament to induce fast and reliable solutions to the growth of the economy.

" It demands that resources be available, and that they be applied in a timely manner. Once again, these goals demand close discussion with Parliament: we will find it to our advantage to share our plans and priorities with it, so that we can be certain of its support,” he added.

The president further called on Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries to review their service delivery so far and to bring new ideas to the table. The Head of State also warned them against starting projects and abandoning them halfway saying time for incomplete projects was over.
