Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta will travel to Kisumu next week as he tries to make inroads into CORD leader Raila Odinga's turf.
The president will open a devolution conference next week in Kisumu, which will be closed by his deputy William Ruto.
The conference has been sponsored and organized by the council of governors.
Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma has welcomed the visit.
" It is good for the County that the president will come here. I urge local leaders and the people to support the visit, he told News24 on phone.
" Such visits do not come often and we hope that it will be handed the respect that it deserves, he added.
The president was last year scheduled to re-visit Nyanza province after the infamous incident in which he was heckled and shouted at in a visit to Migori.
